Magnus Claus is an ancestor of the Archbishop of Canter bury, Stephen Langton. He drafted the first version of the Magna Carta exactly 800 years ago this year. It is one of the most important legal documents in history, enshrining the concept of government accountability and protection of individual rights. It was the foundation for many future legal arrangements between governments and their citizens.
